Biblical Prophecy on Muhammad (pbuh) # 10

Habakkuk's Prophecy
by Maulana Muhammad Idris Kandhlavi
Back ] Next ]

God came from Teman, and the Holy One from mount Paran, Selah, His glory covered the heavens and the earth was full of his praise. And his brightness was as the light*. (Habakkuk III :3)

This prophecy is too obvious and needs no explanation. Who else came from mount Paran, and with whose praise the earth became full, and every friend of enemy mentions his name as Muhammad or Ahmad! In an old Arabic edition of the Bible occurs the passage , speaking in unambiguous terms of the promised one :

The whole world became filled with praise of Ahmad" another name of Muhammad (pbuh).

But religious bigotry and racial rancour could not tolerated this unambiguous and obvious mention of the name of Muhammad (pbuh) as the promised one, so they removed the whole sentence from its place, yet the facts are there: the whole world is vibrating with the glitter of his guidance.

Note

*  To fully appreciate significance of this Prophecy by Prophet HABAKKUK (peace be upon him), the reader would do well to refer to Rahmatul-lil-Alameen, vol. I , p-120,by Qazi Muhammad Suleman Salman wherein he has fully delineated the point that all the names of the places mentioned in this Prophecy Habakkuk (pbuh), refer to the places associated with the  Prophet of Islam, Muhammad (pbuh). He categorically mentioneds, onthe support of the Biblical text, that the name of Mecca in both the New Testament as well as the Old Testament is given as Paran. Paran was the name of the son of Hamir, Hamorite chief of Yemen, of Southern Arabia, who inhabited Mecca, at a certain period, gave his name to one of the mounts of Mecca. And the first name in the Prophecy is that of Taman, which was the name of the eight son of Ishmael son of Abraham, mentioned as TEMA, in Bible Chapter  25 verse 15, whose sons inhabited the outskirts of Medina.

The name of the other place mentioned in this Prophecy is that of Selah. Selah is the name of a mount of Medina. According to the famous historian Tabari, during the Battle of Ahzab, a ditch was excavated  under the foot of mount Selah, to protect the City of Medina from the Meccan invaders. A reference to this mountain is found in the Isaiah 42: 11, referring to the welcome accorded to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) when he first came to Medina on Hijrah (immigration) from Mecca, depicting the fulfillment of Isaiah's vision and the behest.

"Sing unto the Lord a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles and the inhabitants thereof. Let the wilderness and the cities thereof  lift up their voice, the villages that kedar inhabit: let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains. Let them give glory unto the Lord, and declare his praise in the islands. The Lord shall go forth as the mighty man, he shall stir  up the jealousy like a man of War; he shall cry , yea, roar; he shall prevail against his enemies."

In the text of an Arabic edition of the Bible, quoted by Salman Saleh, as referred to above, the words "inhabitants of the rock" , read as "inhabitants of Saleh". However, there is another prophecy of Isaiah : 21 :13-17 which sets at rest the point under discussion.

"The Burden of Arabia"

In the forest in Arabia shall ye lodge, O ye travelling companies of Dadanim. The inhabitants of the land of Tema brought water to him that was thirsty. For they fled from the swords, from the drawn sword, and from the bent bow, and from the grievousness of war. For thus hath the Lord said unto me; within a year; according to the year of an hireling, and all the glory of kedar shall fail : and the residue of the number of archers, the mighty men of the children of Kedar, shall be diminished : for the Lord God of Israel hath spoken

After the above prophecy of Isaiah, we have to seek for theses names only in Arabia. And after Isaiah to this day Arabia has produced only one prophet responding to the description-Muhammad (pbuh),
